A modern rooftop garden designed for a 90 sq m Dubai Marina penthouse terrace, combining lightweight planters, herb and tropical foliage planting, an aluminium louvred pergola and concealed irrigation. The design creates a practical green outdoor space while carefully addressing rooftop weight and waterproofing considerations.
Rooftop garden design and installation on a 90 sq m penthouse terrace in Dubai Marina. The scope included a waterproofing protection layer, lightweight expanded clay growing medium, modular planter walls for herbs and foliage, an aluminium louvred pergola for shade and a concealed drip irrigation circuit serving all planters.
The challenge
The rooftop terrace required a lightweight garden solution that could introduce substantial planting and shade without placing unnecessary load on the roof structure. Waterproofing protection, concealed irrigation and efficient use of the limited terrace area were key considerations.
